Unit 14: Living in My World
Climate, weather, geographical features, ecology, civic affairs, driving and traffic. Written translation into English; review of past tense. The unit lasts for 7-8 days.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
- Relate past events when writing or speaking
- Give driving directions
- Discuss environmental concerns such as:
- - modes of transportation
- - weather and climate
- - personal choices that affect one's environmental footprint
- - perspectives on local as well as international neighborhoods
- Plan and participate in a community service project
Lessons
Meeting the ACTFL standards
Students:
- 1.1: Engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
- 1.2: Understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.
- 1.3: Present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.
- 2.1: Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the culture studied.
- 2.2: Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the products and perspectives of the culture studied.
- 3.1: Reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the foreign language.
